Welcome to Trevor Nokes Music. These Terms & Conditions explain how online mastering and related services are supplied when you place an order with me.
By booking a service, submitting audio, approving a quote, or making payment, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with them, please do not place an order or submit files.
1. The service
Trevor Nokes Music provides online mastering and related project support as described on the website or agreed directly in writing.
This may include:
- stereo mastering
- alternate file versions
- revision rounds
- mastering-related feedback
- support connected to the project brief
Unless agreed separately, services do not include mixing, editing, stem mastering, restoration, sample clearance, publishing administration, or music distribution.
2. Placing an order
When you place an order, you are asking Trevor Nokes Music to carry out the agreed service for your project.
A booking is accepted once we confirm it, send an invoice, receive payment, or begin work.
We may decline a project if:
- the files or brief are incomplete
- the material raises legal or technical concerns
- payment has not been received
- or the work falls outside the agreed scope
3. Files you send
You are responsible for making sure that the files you send are the correct ones and are ready for mastering.
That includes making sure:
- the mix is final unless we agree otherwise
- the export is correct
- there are no obvious technical faults
- any notes, references, and metadata are accurate
- and you keep your own backup copies
Trevor Nokes Music is not responsible for issues caused by poor source files, incorrect exports, clipped mixes, missing files, or inaccurate instructions.
4. Payment terms
For most mastering projects, payment is taken in full before work begins.
For larger or more tailored projects, such as EPs, albums, or ongoing work, Trevor Nokes Music may offer a split payment option. In these cases, a 50% booking deposit may be taken upfront, with the remaining balance due before the final files are sent.
Payments are accepted by debit card, credit card, PayPal, and, where agreed in advance, bank transfer.
If extra revisions, alternate versions, or rush turnaround are requested outside the original booking, these may be charged separately.
Final master files are released once full payment has cleared.
5. Turnaround
Typical turnaround times refer to the first mastered version delivered for review.
As a general guide:
- Single songs are usually completed within 2–5 working days
- EPs are usually completed within 5–10 working days
- Albums are usually completed within 5–10 working days
Turnaround can vary depending on:
- project length
- complexity
- revision requirements
- file readiness
- and current studio schedule
If you are working to a release deadline, please mention this before booking and Trevor Nokes Music will confirm whether that timescale can be accommodated.
Rush turnaround may be available by prior agreement and may be charged separately.
6. Revisions
Each mastering project includes up to 2 revision rounds as part of the service, so you have the opportunity to review the first version and request reasonable adjustments.
Revisions are based on the original submitted mix and brief. If new mixes, replacement files, or major changes to the project are introduced after work has started, these may be treated as additional work and charged separately.
Any further revision rounds beyond those included may also be charged separately.
7. Your rights in the music
You keep ownership of your music and all materials you send to Trevor Nokes Music.
That includes your recordings, compositions, lyrics, artwork, metadata, and any other material supplied by you.
Trevor Nokes Music does not take ownership of your music simply because it has been mastered.
You also confirm that you own or control the rights needed for anything you submit, including any samples, third-party content, or co-created material.
If someone else claims that the material was used without permission, responsibility for that sits with the person who submitted it.
8. Permission to work on your files
By sending files to Trevor Nokes Music, you give us permission to store, copy, process, and transfer those files only as needed to carry out the service, communicate with you, deliver the masters, and keep appropriate business records.
That permission is limited to providing the agreed service. It does not give Trevor Nokes Music the right to exploit, sell, release, distribute, or monetise your music.
9. Confidentiality and privacy of your project
Your project is treated as private and confidential.
Trevor Nokes Music will not knowingly share your files, artwork, or project information with third parties except where necessary to:
- provide the service
- use trusted business providers
- comply with the law
- or protect legal rights
Unless you give permission, Trevor Nokes Music will not publicly post, feature, or identify your work in portfolios, testimonials, website content, or social media.
10. Creative judgement and service quality
Mastering is a professional technical service, but it also involves creative judgement.
Trevor Nokes Music will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. However, mastering cannot correct every issue in the mix, and results will always depend in part on the quality of the source material provided.
No guarantee is given that a project will achieve any specific commercial, chart, playlist, label, streaming, or loudness result.
11. Delivery and approval
Final files are treated as delivered once they have been sent to the email address or transfer method you have provided.
You should check your files as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If you believe there is a technical issue with the delivered files, please raise it within insert number of days or “a reasonable time”.
If you approve the files, distribute them, release them, upload them, or otherwise use them publicly or commercially, that will normally count as acceptance of the delivered work.
12. File storage and backups
Trevor Nokes Music may retain project files, notes, and correspondence for up to 6 months after delivery for support, administration, and possible redelivery purposes. However, Trevor Nokes Music is not an archive or cloud storage service, and long-term file availability cannot be guaranteed. You remain responsible for downloading and securely backing up all original and delivered files once they have been sent to you. After the retention period, project files may be deleted without further notice.
13. Cancellations and refunds
If you need to cancel a project, please let Trevor Nokes Music know as early as possible.
Where work has not yet started, a refund may be offered.
Once work has begun, refunds are not normally available, as time and studio resources will already have been committed to the project.
Completed and delivered mastering work is generally non-refundable. However, if there is a genuine technical issue with the delivered files, Trevor Nokes Music will always aim to correct that first.
For larger or bespoke projects booked with a deposit, the deposit may be non-refundable once the booking has been confirmed and time has been reserved.
Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
14. When work may be refused or stopped
Trevor Nokes Music may refuse, pause, or stop a project if:
- payment is not made
- these Terms are breached
- submitted material appears unlawful or infringing
- communication becomes abusive or unreasonable
- or the project creates a legal or operational issue that makes it unreasonable to continue
Where appropriate, payment may be retained for work already completed or time already reserved.
15. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where the law does not allow that.
Subject to that, Trevor Nokes Music is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profits, loss of business opportunity, loss of reputation, or loss of data where you have not kept your own backups.
Any liability connected with a specific order will not exceed the amount paid for that order.
This does not affect any legal rights you have as a consumer.
16. Personal data
Trevor Nokes Music handles personal data in line with UK data protection law.
Please read the Privacy Policy for details of how your personal data is collected, used, stored, and protected.
17. Marketing emails
If you choose to join the mailing list or opt in to updates, Trevor Nokes Music may send you emails about services, blog posts, insights, and occasional offers.
You can unsubscribe at any time.
Service emails relating to an active order, invoice, file delivery, or revisions are separate from marketing emails.
18. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time.
The version that applies to your order will be the version in place when you book, unless a change is required by law or specifically agreed with you.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
